BUILDING DEPARTMENTS UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

       Our Elite team hopes that all of our clients and families remain healthy during this time. Since we have received a lot of inquires about what the local building departments are currently doing to address COVID -19, we are sharing the information that we have and will update as the scenario changes.

  •   Most documents can be submitted electronically.
  •   Drop box available outside.
  •   Permitting companies can process and pick up old paper documentation, Elite can assist with this.

  •  Submission remains the same, most of the permits are paper submission. Permits or other documents can be dropped off outside office #105 , permit fees will be collected at permit issuance.

  • Documents can be submitted online or in a drop box at the building department.

No inspections on occupied buildings, these may be handle remotely. Processing of paper documents will be delayed for 24 hr.

Delay in processing of drop box items is expected
   Sarasota County
  • Temporarily has moved South permitting Center and Utilities customer service to 1001 Sarasota Center Blvd.
  • They have instituted a drop box starting March 24 in the first floor of the Annex building located at 1565 First Street
Several restrictions depending on the inspections, occupied buildings are restricted but there are several options for small permits to include photos and pictures Inspector may cancel inspection if they feel unsafe or exposed to virus.
